Fire Safety Consultant- Your Design Team FAQ
The Fire Safety Consultant undertakes to amend and augment the design of a building to ensure compliance with Part B of the Building Regulations, and should issue a certificate to this effect upon completion. As such they should hold appropriate insurance and be properly appointed within the Building Control inspection and certification strategy for the project.
Fire Safety Certificates
They are widely used for projects which require Fire Safety Certificate Applications; these comprise of detailed written reports listing the building’s compliance with various provisions of the regs, and detailed drawings showing the “fire strategy” of the building.
Design for fire safety is typically included in architectural services for home renovation projects, but a fire consultant may be called upon to meet particular design challenges. If you are looking for a feature which conflicts with the standard provisions of the fire regulations, a consultant may be able to give you alternatives using technology or improved materials.
